Me Before You is a sad yet romantic story about Louisa Clark, a quirky, cheerful young woman who becomes a caregiver for Will Traynor, a once-active man who is now paralyzed from the neck down after a tragic accident. Despite his bitterness and broken spirit, Lou’s warmth slowly brings color back into Will’s life. As Lou tries to show him life is still worth living — taking him on adventures, dancing, laughing, and falling in love — the two develop a deep emotional bond. But the story takes a heartbreaking turn when Will reveals he still plans to go through with assisted suicide in Switzerland because he cannot bear to live in his condition. In the end, despite their love, Lou respects his decision. Will dies, leaving Lou heartbroken but also stronger and more inspired to live boldly, as he wanted her to.
